Hidden Gardens, Brighton NY

About this project

This beautiful, historic home located within the city of Rochester, New York, contains plenty of charm with it's private backyard and beautiful, hidden gardens. The owner wanted to retain it's classic patio design while updating its materials to add new life to the outdoor space. Original, decomposing timbers bordering the flower beds, were replaced with Techo Bloc's Borealis wall stone which capture the esthetics of wood with the practicality and durability of concrete.

The original flagstone patio was carefully deconstructed and reset to correct the settling that had occurred over the years and to ensure that a proper base depth was installed to prevent settling in the years to come.  A new recessed fire pit area was created in the lower section of the property utilizing new flagstone to match the original patio above. Techo-Bloc's Brandon Wall in Slate Grey and Yukon Valley Slate Stone were used to make the fire pit and seating walls and creates an inviting extension of the patio and draws friends and family outdoors for an evening under the stars.
